A Royal Honour for Camp de Rêves

Camp de Rêves has been awarded a King’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development – the UK’s highest business honour. Even more special, we’re the first ever Guernsey business to receive this award. 🇬🇬🌿

Personally approved by His Majesty The King, this award celebrates organisations that are making an outstanding impact through sustainable practices. It’s not only a huge moment for us, but for the wider Guernsey community.

As our co-owner Danny Barnes prepares to accept the award at Windsor Castle, we’re reflecting on how much this means – and how grateful we are to every guest and supporter who have been part of our journey.

Guernsey’s Lieutenant-Governor, Lieutenant General Richard Cripwell, said: “I am delighted to see a Guernsey-based company receive the prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise – a first for our island, and I hope this marks the start of many more such awards. I am also very pleased that Camp de Rêves has been recognised for its sustainable development, something that His Majesty was particularly interested in when He visited Guernsey last year.”

Since we opened in 2019, sustainability has been at the heart of everything we do – not just in how we operate, but in the way we welcome guests, connect with schools, and look after our land.

From solar power, composting and zero pesticides, to indigenous planting, borehole irrigation and growing our own fruit and veg, we’ve built Camp de Rêves to tread lightly and inspire others to do the same.

Stephen Rouxel, President of the Guernsey Chamber of Commerce, shared: “This recognition shines a spotlight on the calibre of businesses thriving here, and the values that drive them. At Chamber, we celebrate companies that put people and planet at the heart of their mission – and this award reinforces the power of purposeful business on a global stage.”

The King’s Award for Enterprise is the UK’s highest honour for business excellence, celebrating exceptional achievement in sustainable development. This year, His Majesty The King personally approved the Prime Minister’s recommendation that Camp de Rêves Glamping receive the award in the Sustainable Development category.

With just 197 organisations nationally recognised across four categories – Innovation, International Trade, Sustainable Development, and Promoting Opportunity through Social Mobility – Camp de Rêves stands out as the first Guernsey-based business to receive this prestigious accolade. This royal recognition underscores the team’s unwavering commitment to environmental responsibility, while delivering a truly memorable and luxurious guest experience.

“We are so pleased to receive this incredible recognition for all the hard work we’ve put into creating a glampsite that not only provides a unique, eco-friendly experience for our guests, but also contributes to the long-term health of our environment,” said Jane Barnes, co-founder of Camp de Rêves. “This award affirms our dedication to sustainability and the positive impact we strive to have on both our community and the natural world.”
